Cindy's rehabilitation and release, including the purchase of the satellite tag and tracking time, were sponsored by Andrew Sabin Family Foundation. Cindy was adopted by Andrew Sabin during Oceans of Hope annual fundraiser held at the Atlantis Marine World Aquarium.
