"Bruiser", a sub-adult sea turtle, was rescued on October 30, 2005 from Wellfleet, Massachusetts. The Wellfleet Bay Wildlife Sanctuary of the Massachusetts Audubon Society initially recovered Bruiser and transported the animal to the New England Aquarium, located in Boston, Massachusetts. Bruiser was stabilized at New England Aquarium for almost two months before being relocated to the Riverhead Foundation for Marine Research and Preservation's hospital facility for long-term rehabilitation. Bruiser gained almost 25 lbs during rehab, and upon the release Bruiser weighed a whopping 115lb! Bruiser was released on the south shore of Long Island in Hampton Bays, New York on August 3, 2006.
