FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Students Jumping at the Chance to Make a Difference!
The enthusiasm spread fast and wide over the Long Beach Catholic School creating a competition to help New York’s save marine life. The Long Beach Catholic School’s Annual Jump-a-thon supported the Riverhead Foundation for Marine Research and Preservation. Students sought sponsors to support them during the fundraiser. Individual students who raised the most money will be presented with awards on February 27, 2008 by Robert DiGiovanni, Jr., Foundation Director/Senior Biologist.
The Riverhead Foundation is a non-profit organization that operates the New York State Marine Mammal and Sea Turtle Rescue Program. Each year, the organization responds to more than 200 animals. Some of these species are critically endangered and may become extinct in our lifetime. That is why the Riverhead Foundation is dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation and release of seals, sea turtles, whales, dolphins and porpoises and educating the public about its ocean backyard.
The Riverhead Foundation is always in need of funds to carry out their mission of preserving and protecting our marine environment. That is where the public comes in. Being a non-profit organization, the Riverhead Foundation relies on the public help for donations and volunteers to assist in every aspect of their daily operations.
The Annual Jump-a-thon raised over $5,700! Everyone at the Long Beach Catholic School made their contribution in helping the Riverhead Foundation.
The students at Long Beach Catholic School plan to celebrate their success and present the check to the Riverhead Foundation on Wednesday, February 27, 2008 at 11:30 am.
