Selkie, Ducky, and Mystic
On August 16, 2005, members of LaRonde Beach Club gathered to watch the release of two sea turtles back into the wild. Mystic, a Kemp's Ridley sea turtle that was transferred to the Riverhead Foundation on November 5, 2004 from Connecticut was caught in a fishing net and had a punctured flipper. Ducky, an Atlantic Green sea turtle was picked up from Cutchogue, Long Island on December 11, 2004 after being cold stunned.
A satellite tag was attached to the carapace of Mystic to determine post release movements. Follow its travels on the map below.

SELKIE
Selkie, a yearling harbor seal rescued and rehabilitated by the Riverhead Foundation, was released back to the wild! The release took place at La Ronde Beach Club in Westhampton, NY, and was witnessed by over 150 members that showed their care and support.
Selkie was equipped with a settelite tag attached to its fur, which will enable the Riverhead Foundation's biologists to track his post release movements.
Selkie is now available for adoption. To adopt Selkie, please call the Riverhead Foundation's office at 631-369-9840.
Below are Selkie's pictures from the release.
