HIRING FULL TIME AND PART TIME ANIMAL CARE TECHNICIANS
A candidate for this position should have a bachelor’s degree (or working towards it with an anticipated date of completion in May 2011) in biological sciences or related fields.
Basic requirements for the position are as follows:

Able and willing to work long and flexible hours and be on 24 hour call on specific days

Able to lift at least 50 lbs
-
Able to work in the field under various weather conditions

The candidate should be self-motivated, with strong leadership and communication skills, ability to follow directions well and work within a team setting, as well as independently.

Strong knowledge of computer programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint. Additional computer skills, such as video and photo editing, ArcView or ArcGIS, are a plus.
A person hired for this position will have the following duties:

Perform daily animal husbandry tasks
-
Maintain the facility equipment and water quality of the rehabilitation tanks
-
Respond to calls about stranded marine mammals and sea turtles (requires driving on the beach)
-
Conduct public lectures and educational programs with elementary, high school, and college age students
-
Conduct beach walk, beach clean ups, seal walks and seal cruises
-
Assist with grant writing
-
Assist with fundraising activities
-
Work with digital stills and video footage to create educational displays and PowerPoint presentations
-
Assist with aerial, ship, and land based surveys on seals, sea turtles, whales, dolphins and porpoises
One part-time and one full time positions are available. Starting part-time salary is $11.50 to $13.50/hour . The full time position salary depends on experience and comes with health benefits after six months of employment.
