Celebrating Earth Day!

Earth Day 2016

April holds many opportunities for the Riverhead Foundation for Marine Research and Preservation to further their mission of advancing the conservation of whales, dolphins, seals, and sea turtles, and their environment. National Volunteer Week has just come to an end, and it was a wonderful way for us to showcase our program, which now has more than 260 individuals!

This is now National Environmental Week, which includes Earth Day! Our biologists, volunteers, and interns will be participating in various events across Long Island to highlight our organization and it’s various programs. Here is where you will find us:

Canon Earth Day Celebration – Friday, April 22 at 11:30 a.m.
Thanks to the Canon Corporation’s generous donation, you can watch the animals in our rehabilitation facility on our live web cams! At their corporate office in Melville, the Riverhead Foundation for Marine Research and Preservation’s Executive Director and Senior Biologist Robert A. DiGiovanni, Jr. will be the guest speaker for the Canon Earth Day Celebration. It is a great honor to be back at this amazing event, and we’re excited to speak with individuals about the ways they can help us to preserve and protect the marine environment and it’s inhabitants. See more about the way Canon celebrates Earth Day here.
