Students Get Creative With Our Adoption Challenge

adoption challenge 2016 cupcakes
Each year students across Long Island participate in our Adoption Challenge in an effort to raise awareness for the Riverhead Foundation for Marine Research and Preservation, and help support the rehabilitation of marine mammals and sea turtles in need. The school that raises the most money through animal adoptions wins the opportunity to name a seal, which we will then schedule a special release of that seal with the winning school!

We have seen some creative ways schools have been raising money for animal adoptions this year! One school hosted the Cupcake Wars where one of our lucky volunteers got to taste test a variety of beautiful and delicious cupcakes baked by the students. Recycling is always a popular way to raise money, and of course it is great for the environment! Other students did extra chores around the house to give their parents a much needed break. Most recently, the teachers at one school raffled off opportunities such as piano lessons, yoga sessions, and cooking classes.

The Adoption Challenge ends on Saturday, April 30! Let us know how your school is raising funds by emailing Feel free to share photos and videos as well for a chance to be featured on our social media pages!

Your support is greatly appreciated. We will be announcing the winning school soon, so stay tuned!
